Our Services

The regional umbrella body performs the following functions. These services are not exhaustive.

  • Provide a forum for the GUM network member groups to coordinate activities and share resources, expertise, information, and experience. This helps to enhance their common goal of providing support to the Ghanaian community in the Midlands region.
 
  • Provide advocacy services to promote social justice, inclusion, and equality by empowering our affiliates and their members. Also, to provide impartial advice and confidential counselling through our affiliates to support their members.
 
  • Assist our affiliated group members to bring an awareness of the Ghanaian culture and tradition to the communities in the region to promote social and group cohesiveness.
 
  • Offer support and advice on management, financial management, funding, governance, and consultancy to our members in the localities in which they operate in the Midlands region. Furthermore, to promote good practices amongst the GUM membership.
 
  • Organise an annual conference to discuss major issues affecting the Ghanaian community in the Midlands region to promote community development and cohesion.
 
  • Provide a united voice for GUM and its associated member groups by which the views of GUM and also the views of the Ghanaian community will be heard by the UK policymakers and statutory agencies. Also, to liaise with the Government of Ghana through its High Commission in London on behalf of the Ghanaian community in the Midlands region.
